Pine Summit
Thursday, July 9th, 2009Had a great week at Pine Summit…
We went up Sunday night and played each morning and evening, and then came home late Wednesday night. The week was filled with ministry to students, band bonding and eating a lot of Big Bears’ unique cuisine (starting with Dennys’ at 10PM Sunday night, but we got more creative later on)!
It seemed like this week God wanted to use the band to inspire students to grow in their own ministry and creativity; that was a huge joy to see. Our keyboard player took time to teach one of the students how to play a song on the piano, which she later played in front of the whole camp. Another student came up to Andrew and I and told us that he was inspired to start writing music again, and wants to write worship songs. One high schooler sang One and Only in an end of the week talent show; I’m sure he has no idea how much that blessed us. Every band member had a moment during the week where they had an opportunity to spend time with a student and teach them something about music. To God be the glory!
Overall, I was once again reminded that God is One who wants to use us in new and unique ways. I never know what to expect when we leave home for one of these camps, but I do know that God always has a plan. I am continually amazed when I think of all that He has done in our ministry and in our lives; we could never take credit for an ounce of it. Our God is so worthy of our praise, and we are so grateful that we get to serve Him.
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Eph. 3:20-21
