Giving it Back to Him

May 10th, 2009

We had the pleasure of playing this weekend at Green Valley Lake for Harvest’s college and career group, “The Well.” It was cool to see God working in the hearts of so many people throughout the weekend.

I had a moment when I was sitting in the back of the room while another great band was leading worship and happened to notice the silhouette of one particular girl’s hands in the air. Her fingers were stretched out with fervency, then they would ball up into fists as she sang to the Lord; it was beautiful. I don’t often have the opportunity to be an observer during musical worship since I am usually part of it’s leading, so it was a blessing to witness it happening from a different end of the room. I started to think about how God had created those hands and how she was offering them back to Him with everything she had. That is the only thing God wants from any of us: for us to take what He’s given us and use it to point back to Him. It may not always be in a moment of passionate worship, it may be in the quiet, in our jobs, or on the street. Either way the posture of our hearts should always be the same: full of adoration for the One who created us, the One who gave us what we have. Let us give our gifts and ourselves back to Him.

“For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

Come&Live!

April 15th, 2009

Hey there,
Please pray for us as we continue to seek God in our ministry. We are very excited about our new relationship with Come&Live!, the new not for profit record label that is just getting started. There are 16 bands on the label so far, and all of them are different in style but similar in heart… our goal is to get our music into as many hands as possible so that people have another avenue through which they can worship the Lord; that’s why our new album, “All Color” is available by donation or free. If you would like to learn more about Come&Live! you can go to myspace.com/comeandlive, and if you would like to download our album for donation or free, you can find it right here on our site under “Pay What You Feel.”

Blessings,

The Snow Chain Massacre

March 19th, 2009

Hello Wonders,

This winter was full of adventure and excitement as we played many a winter camp in the snowy, snowy mountains. Here is a little story to help us all appreciate the coming of spring…

A couple of months ago, we were on our way to Big Bear for a winter camp and heard various rumors that we would need chains for our car. We called Cal Trans and they reported that the roads were clear; being the impatient people that we are, we decided to head up the mountain chain-free. About half way up, we were stopped by a barrage signs that said “chains required”. We were also surrounded by a large group of Southern California drivers who don’t know the first thing about how to operate a vehicle in the snow (ourselves included) and there were fender-benders happening every 50 feet.

So we turned around, went back down the mountain, bought the cheap, cheap, cheapest set of chains we could find and headed back toward the chaos. When we reached the stopping point again, Andrew got out of the car and tried to teach himself how to put chains on tires for the first time ever. I held the instructions up to the passenger side window and he went outside in his T-shirt and jeans. He would stare at the vague instructions through the glass, all the while, snow was dumping down on top of him… 40 minutes later he was successful! ;)

We made finally made it to the camp-a drive that normally takes 2 1/2 hours took 4 hours.

Humorously enough, we went back to Big Bear for a different camp the next weekend. This time, it was already snowing at 2000 feet: on went the chains, only this time Andrew had some fancy skills and experience so it only took about 10 minutes. Part way up the mountain we hit some more Southern California drivers and ended up at a complete stand still for a full hour… it was one of those traffic jams where people start getting out of their cars and wandering around the highway, cursing and going to the bathroom in the bushes… it was good fun. Between all of the traffic and snow, a 2 1/2 hour drive took 8 hours.

Our fun at camp ended early when the weather report said that we were supposed to get snowed in; needless to say, just about everyone went home a day early, including us. We were back on our way down that nemesis of a mountain. The roads were looking pretty snow free so we decided to stop and take off the dreaded chains. Spirits were high as 4 of us gathered round outside and took our chains off. Every tire was free except one… Andrew had been wrestling with it a while when Matt came over and started to help him, then Troy, then myself. Four people stood around this one stubborn chain that was beyond the shadow of a doubt STUCK. Not just a short delay stuck, I mean stuck forever and ever stuck. All of us had different brilliant ideas for how to get it off: we tried a cheap tool set that ended up breaking and some bass string cutters which also broke. Nothing was going to get through that steel, especially not four musicians at one o’clock in the morning. We eventually took off the whole tire in order to remove the merciless chains. Our 2 1/2 hour drive had a 1 1/2 delay from 12AM-1:30AM

So this is the life we lived this winter and we would not trade it for anything. But here’s to warmer weather.

P.S. If you get a chance, please take a minute to read a review/blog about us on Evade the Noise. Also, keep your ears open for some remixes of a few songs from All Color.

Pay What You Feel?, ComeandLive!, Relevant Magazine…

March 4th, 2009

Hey there Wonders! It has been too long since one of these blogs appeared on the web. We have some very exciting news…

After much thought and prayer, we have felt an urge to distribute our brand new music for donation or free. God has given us so much and we feel that He is calling us to live the life of generosity as He has modeled. At the end of 2 Samuel, King David is offered a free sacrifice to give to the Lord and he responds,

“I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” – 2 Samuel 24:24

This CD was not easy to create, nor is it meant to be a cheap promotional stunt but rather an offering to God, a call to worship and a ministry to the hurting. We now have a page on our website called PAY WHAT YOU FEEL which allows you to choose the price that you want to pay for our music and then download it (You can still purchase a hard copy and have it shipped to you at the normal price if you prefer).

God has brought us to start a relationship with a new label called Come&Live! Chad Johnson of Come&Live! recently did an interview with RelevantMagazine.com; Lovelite gets mentioned at the end of it. If you’d like to learn more about this exciting move of God, then take a look. It’s called The Missionary Record Label.

IT’S HERE

November 12th, 2008

We had an incredible day at the Calvary Chapel Worship Leaders Conference. It was such a blessing to be able to lead worship with so many worship leaders at the beautiful college campus in Murrieta.  Right after we got done leading worship after the first session I got a call from UPS saying that the CDs arrived.  So Matt, Jen, and I hurried to pick them up.  This is what they looked like on our doorstep.

This is what I looked like

Thanks for waiting so long.  Also, Lovelite will be leading Worship this coming Monday Night (Nov. 17th) at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.  It will be an official release date for our CD.  Please come and share in a night of worship that we are very excited about.

I’ll leave you with a Tozer quote

”It is always true that an encounter with God brings wonderment and awe!”                                         (Renewed Day by Day, Volume 1, Feb. 8).

It’s Almost in Our Hands

November 6th, 2008

“This is the very perfection of a man, to find out his own imperfections.”                                                        -Saint Augustine

I thought I would start with a quote that has really challenged me over the years.  Without humility our Christian faith appears like a warriors mace rather than the Christ-like figure that is presented to us in the Gospels.  We are positioned to change and challenge this world with an unexpected love by the great example of our Servant-King.  My challenge to you all is the same challenge I try to apply to myself daily; to treat others with the same unexpected love that Jesus has shown toward us.

Our new CD is really close to being in all of our eager hands.   We will be at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa on Nov 17th for a release type of event.  Hope to see you all there.  It will be a great night so come and say hi.

Chord Charts for “Deep Ocean” and “There You Are” are available for download on our Resources page.  Feel free to download and play loudly wherever you please
